6 Signs Your Sewer Needs Professional Attention

Picture of man plunging toilet

Hey everyone, T.J. the sewer and drain specialist here! Today I want to focus on explaining the main signs your residential or commercial sewer line needs some TLC. I know, it is not all that glamorous; however, it is extremely important you know the symptoms of a malfunctioning sewer. Septic waste can contaminate your water, exposing you, your family, your friends, or your customers to harmful bacteria and viruses.

Here are the 6 signs your sewer needs professional attention:

Low Water Levels

When you use the toilet, do you notice inconsistent water levels? Does your toilet bowl have little to no water in it one day, and then look like it is about to overflow the next? This is a probable sign that you have a severe clog in your sewer line that needs removing. Contact Pro Drain, Inc. for sewer line cleaning.

I will come out to your home and perform sewer jetting to ensure your clog is not only gone but that it does not return. Sewer jetting uses high water pressure to power clean your pipes, and it is the best way to make sure your sewer line is in the cleanest condition possible.

Rodents And Insects

When you have a broken sewer line, the humidity in your home or business is affected, and it will increase. This is an extremely desirable environment for pests and rodents; and, they will flock to your property.

Foul Odors

If you smell sewage, your sanitary line is cracked. Sewer lines are supposed to be airtight, so if a putrid odor is wafting into your space, contact a professional plumber immediately.

Pooling Wastewater

If you see pooling wastewater or notice that your yard is soggy, you likely have a crack in your sewer line. When you have a sewer line malfunction such as this one, the probable cause is a clogged drain field, a faulty septic pipe, or a fractured mainline.

You will need to contact me, here at Pro Drain, Inc., for sewer repairs. I will have to turn off your water supply and perform a conventional or pipelining repair.

Slow Drainage

Experiencing slow drainage in multiple drains? You have a clog in your mainline. When your sewer line has a blockage, your water within your plumbing is unable to flow freely; and, your water will back up into the lowest drain in your plumbing system. The common mainline affecters are tree roots, cracks in your piping, and misaligned pipe connections.

The best way to diagnose your mainline issue is for me to come out and perform a sewer camera inspection. With sewer camera inspection I will be able to see, in real-time, what is happening throughout your entire sewer line! Schedule sewer camera inspection before your repair becomes a replacement.

Mold

As I previously mentioned, a broken sewer line will raise the humidity in your home or business. And, high levels of humidity is conducive for mold growth. Some mold is evident and easily seen; however, other molds require reliance on a different sense—smell.

If you notice a strange scent in your home, and you can’t quite place it, you may have mold. Contact me here at Pro Drain, Inc. for sewer line repair and then call a mold removal company.
